Always been great for me
I've never known a Doctors surgery where you are unable to make an appointment! You must call on the day you feel ill between 08:30am and 10:30am and be prepared to be kept on hold for at least 30 minutes. This is impossible for me as I start work at 08:00! Maybe they think that because you want to see a Doctor, you must be off work?! If you can bear the wait and eventually speak to the Receptionist they will ask you to explain your illness to them (in detail) and then pass the info to the Doctor for them to call you back!? Again; impossible to manage if you are at work! If the Doctor thinks you need an appointment then you will be asked to come that day at a time chosen by them... again impossible if you are at work! This surgery only caters for the retired or out of work!
Worst Practice I have ever known. Refuse to actually allow you to see a doctor. All of the NHS funded advertisements stating to use the proportionate service. Watton GP refer you to accident and emergency as they can't be bothered to actually do their job!
I have been to the doctors twice this week. Saw Dr Lee both times. What a wonderful doctor she is. Kind, gentle and such a lovely manner. The surgery have been fantastic with my needs. Quick call backs and appointments sorting my problem quickly. Thank you watton medical practice
Saw a paramedic at 10 am this morning who was very helpful and prescribed something for me. However, since he is not a doctor the duty doctor has to sign off on his prescriptions. I was told I could pick up the prescription at 'lunch time'. However at 3:45 pm pm the prescription still has not been signed off. In the meantime I remain in a lot of pain and would like to start some treatment! The receptionists say it will be 'done today' but have no idea when. There is no option for me to be notified when the prescription is ready so I have to phone up every hour to see if it's been done yet. The service I received this morning deserves a higher rating than 2, but the prolonged wait to actually get some treatment has pulled it right down. I have not bothered writing to the surgery on this occasion as on a couple of previous occasions when I have had other issues they have not deigned to respond.Update: the prescription was eventually ready at 4. The pharmacy informed this was typical and while I waited they turned other people away who also had not had their prescriptions come through yet. If I'd been told at 10 in the morning, 'You can pick your prescription up this evening from 5' and I'd gone in at 5 and there it was, I might have been mildly irritated at the long wait but at least I would have had the correct information. Given that the pharmacy say this is typical, it would be very helpful if the paramedic could be told that it doesn't take 'a couple of hours' to get a scrip signed off but in fact takes a day, and he could then pass this on to the patient. That would have saved me the agro of phoning every hour to see if the script had arrived yet - although it wouldn't have solved the problem of being in pain and unable to access treatment.
